Retirement Letter to Boss
A Retirement letter to the boss is written by a subordinate to his immediate boss or superior to inform the boss of the upcoming retirement of the assistant. It is a good note to give the manager sufficient notice with regards to an individual’s retirement so that the responsibilities can be farmed out in phases for less negative impact or effect on the company. In this letter, you should mention the date of your retirement and how much time is still left. Also, mention in the letter that you will like to train your successor.
As it is a formal letter, keep the tone of the letter formal. Keep your letter brief and warm. Make sure there are no grammatical or spelling errors in the letter. In the letter thank your superior for the guidance and knowledge they provided to you all these years. Let the superior know that you are ready to help them in any way required be it from searching the right candidate to training them. Also, provide your contact information in the letter.
RE: Notice of Retirement
I am writing to inform you that I am close to my retirement this year. On the DD/MM/YYYY, I shall be turning fifty-five. According to the state Labour Law, I shall be qualified for retirement.
According to our company policy, I am required to give five months notice before a retirement to enjoy the retirement benefits from our company. I have worked at Summerville Agency for 25 years, and I am looking forward to my retirement. I have enjoyed all these years at the company growing and learning a lot. I can’t be thankful enough for having the best colleagues in my team. This company has led to my growth both personally and professionally.
It goes without saying, how much I am going to miss this workplace and my team. But it is time to leave now. Please consider the reallocation of my responsibilities as soon as you can. I shall be available to train up my successor once you have identified the person. I am also attaching my email and phone number so that you can contact me in case my help is required.
I look forward to hearing from you soon to discuss my retirement notice and succession plans.
