A Postponement Letter is a formal letter written to inform people about the decision regarding the postponing of an important meeting, event, seminar or a conference. When you postpone an important event, it is very important to inform people about it beforehand so that the time and effort of the other person do not get wasted. There can be various reasons for postponing an event at the last minute but the sooner you will inform people about it the less will be the impact of your decision.
While writing a postpone letter, you should be very polite and humble, and you should apologize for the uneventful postponement of the event. You should also state the reason for postponing the event and assure the concerned person to reschedule the event soon. Also, remember to keep the letter precise and simple without exaggerating too much onto the unnecessary details which are not required.

Dear Mr. Steve Lewis,
The HR interview which was scheduled to take place on 4th February 2011 has been postponed to 13th February 2011 due to some uneventful circumstances which occurred in our company. We are sorry for the uneventful changes, and we understand your trouble, but it was not in our hand to control this decision as the board members informed us about this decision yesterday itself.
Please don’t panic as the interview has only been postponed and not cancelled. We are eager to meet young budding talent like you and your association with our company will be a costly affair. The interview will end by 7’o’clock in the evening. A small briefing session will occur in the morning to introduce you well about the company, and the interview will start after the briefing session. Snacks and beverages will be served in between, and the company will also take care of your accommodation if the interview goes longer than the stipulated time frame.
