Personal Leave Letter, Sample & Format

Introduction

Many a time, you will have to request the concerned authorities for leave at work or school due to various reasons. In such cases, you will have to turn in a formal written document requesting leave for any number of days to the authorities. The report must clearly state the details like the number of days you will be on leave, the reason why you will be on leave, etc. This formal written document is written in the form of a letter, that is, as a personal holiday letter.

A personal leave letter must without fail sound genuine and be convincing. The sender must give a valid, relevant reason for such a request. Also, he/she must state how she/he means to make up for the lost time once he/she is back. If the letter is turned in by a student at the school, the signature of the parent/guardian is also required. Personal Leave letters are in short formal evidence for a request for leave.

Subject: Personal request for leave

Dear MS. Johns,

I, Adam Levine of Grade Ten, am requesting you for permission to be on leave for ten days, from DD/MM/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY. I have been selected for the International Baseball Champions’ Camp to be held in New Jersey on the previously mentioned days. The camp would surely help me train to become a better player and open many opportunities for higher education.

I have always been a diligent student who has never failed to stay out of trouble. All my teachers will support this claim. This is the first time that I am making such a request. This camp is crucial to me as it will play a huge role in determining my future studies and even my career.

My baseball coach, Mr. Tucker fully approves of my plan to attend the camp and believes that it will help me a lot. My parents too are supportive of my plan to attend the camp. A copy of the travel permission slipped from my parents and addressed to you has been attached to this letter.

I assure you that my studies will not be affected. I will make up for the lost time by taking part in as many remedial classes as required. Please do permit me to go on leave.

Thanking you.

Yours Sincerely,

Adam Levine
