Late Rent Payment Letter, Sample & Format

A Late Rent Payment letter can be written by the tenant to the landlord informing him of a late settling of the rent for the month. The letter should be written politely and humbly with profuse apology and good reason to help the landlord understand the tenant’s situation. The tenant should also state when the rent can be settled.

Dear Mr. Johnson

RE: Late Rental

I am sorry to inform you that my rent is late this month. I had been expecting some funds from my parents over Christmas but due to the Christmas season, it is somehow delayed. My parents have confirmed sending the check before Christmas but the postal service is still overwhelmed with greeting cards and letters. They assure me of receiving my check before the 10th of this month.

I do apologize for the delay in settling my rent this month, as this has never happened before. You know that I always pay on the 3rd of every month since I moved in 2 years ago. I do ask for your kind patience with me on this slight delay.

I assure you that I shall hand in the rental by the 10th, no matter what.

I appreciate your kind understanding on my predicament.

Yours truly,

Maria
