Graduation Congratulation Letter, Sample & Format

Introduction

A ‘graduation congratulation’ letter is a highly significant letter written to congratulate someone for his or her graduation from college or any other similar institution. It can be a very personal letter since it conveys one’s happiness on the success of another and can also convey a lot of emotional sentiment since it can make the receiver feel very blessed. Nevertheless, a ‘graduation congratulation’ letter is to be structured correctly, into an introduction, the main body, and a conclusion.

In the introduction, include a sentence or two on why you have composed the letter. Then get into the main body of the letter by congratulating the person on his or her graduation. If you are close to the person, you may attach even a card or a small gift of appreciation. Conclude the letter by reiterating your congratulations and perhaps offering to meet him or her in person for a cup of tea (do this only if you are close to the person).

Subject: Congratulations on your Graduation!

Dear Sidharth,

Congratulations on your graduation from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur recently with a B.Tech Degree in Civil Engineering! As you might already be aware, your mother and I had worked together as colleagues 20 years back in Secretariat, and she had informed me of your graduation when we chanced upon each other last month!

I am sure this is a proud and prestigious moment for you as well as your family since one does not get to be an IITian without having worked sincerely hard for it. My family and I also extend our hearty congratulations on having won the Institute Blues Award for your excellent performance in academics as well as extra-curricular activities. I am sure your parents are very proud of your achievements. As a family friend, we are also very proud to have known somebody like you. Being an IITian is no small achievement, and I wish you all the very best in all your future endeavors.

Your mother was also very proud to inform us that you have been selected for your first job at a reputed company in Chennai itself. We know very well the thrills that come with your first job, especially the feeling of being independent, on your own feet. If at all in need of any help in Chennai, please do feel free to contact us, Sidharth, as we have several relatives there

If it is all right with you, we would like to drop by your house sometime this Saturday (14th May) to congratulate you personally! Please do let us know.

Yours sincerely,

Jem Gurudas
