Goodbye Letter To Friend, Sample & Format

Introduction:

Saying goodbye to a person is never easy given the spectrum of emotions coursing through a person’s mind. However, in most cases it is unavoidable, and as much as many of us would want to be surrounded by the people who we care about at all times, this isn’t always possible, and that is an accepted fact of life. The way we bid them farewell, however, matters a lot as that is what sticks in the mind of the person in front.

Sometimes, expressing your thoughts and emotions through words rather than a direct conversation can be beneficial. A Letter allows you to express your most sincere and deepest thoughts which you normally wouldn’t be able to discuss. Such a letter must be honest in its content and maintain a tone of happiness, explaining to the recipient that you hope to see them again in the future and how much their care and support means to you.

Dear Bobby,

It took me a while to gather my thoughts before attempting to write this letter since there’s so much I want to tell you and I am afraid I may unknowingly miss out on something.

I was initially skeptical about moving to a new city for my education, and while I eventually succumbed to parental pressure, I didn’t expect to make any friends or have a social life while at college. However, that changed when we bumped into each other in class, and while I admit that we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, I never envisaged us ever becoming best friends.

You introduced me to whole new lifestyle, gave me a new outlook and were there for me when my family issues became too much for me to bear. During all my time here, you’ve been a steady anchor for me who’s stuck with me through thick and thin, helping me out in dealing with my personal issues, studies and cheering me up whenever I was low.

You’ve been the one constant in my life while everything else has been transient and I would like to thank for, from the bottom of my heart. Now that our time at college is over, I hope that this isn’t the end of our friendship and doesn’t tarnish or weaken the bond that we have. I hope we can stay in touch and hopefully have our paths meet again in the future.

Thanks for everything that you’ve done, and I hope this isn’t the final goodbye.

Yours Truly,

Jerry
