Formal Resignation Letter
For any employee who has completed their tenure or wishes to leave the company they are currently working at, serving the company with a formal resignation letter is a must. This should be done well in advance since companies vary in their policies regarding the minimum notice period that an employee must serve before resignation.
This is a highly formal letter and hence it should maintain a professional tone throughout. Do mention what you have learned at the company and why you wish to leave it now. Your letter should express your gratitude as well, thanking the company for all the opportunities they have provided and ways they have helped you learn and grow. Do mention the date on which you hope to resign so that the company can make all the necessary arrangements. If you are leaving the company on good terms, then you can always request a recommendation letter at the end of your letter.

Subject: Resignation Letter
Dear Ms. Rao,
I would like to inform you that I have been offered a date analyst job at a big firm in Dubai, due to which I will be resigning from Pearson Inc. at the end of this year, that is, on December 31st.
I would like to thank Pearson Inc. for hiring me for the position of a data associate and teaching me all that I know about this profile. It is due to the experiences and guidance I received here that I have landed this particular position. It is a great opportunity for me to further my career and learn more.
I have already sent my resignation letter to the HR department, and according to the policy of the company, I will have to serve a thirty-day notice period starting from the 1st of Dec 2016. I will be allowed to take no leave and hence hope to make the most of my last month here. I will finish all that is left in the pipeline and also the Arora proposal hopefully by the 7th of Dec. My fellow associate, Rahul, will be closely shadowing my activities for the month so that he can update you on all the projects I handled once I have taken my leave.
Pearson Inc. has been like a family to me, and I would once again like to thank you all for my past six years with this company. You will soon be receiving my full and final exit settlement from the HR dept. Please do review it.
Lastly, I would be grateful if you could write me a letter of recommendation for my future endeavors.
