Encouragement is a valuable tool to motivate and help improve the performance and self-esteem of a person. Encouraging a person, regardless of whether they are a child or an adult, reinforces positivity and motivates them to do better. An Encouragement letter is written by an individual to another to encourage the latter who may be down due to ill health or emotions.
An encouragement letter sets to build up the self-esteem of the recipient with kind words of support and belief. One can say much more in an encouragement letter than face-to-face as you can bring across points which may be difficult to convey in a normal conversation. The letter must exude positivity via its contents and should encourage the recipient to perform their best and keep a positive outlook. It must convey your real emotions and point out how you feel the person can improve themselves and that you believe that they capable of achieving greater heights.
The following is a sample of an Encouragement Letter.

How are you? I understand that you are feeling down lately due to the poor first semester results and I understand that you may have had quite a bit of harsh words from your parents because of that.
It sure was a tough semester; I have to say. I also struggled with the heavy workload and new subjects, burning a lot of midnight oil and at times I genuinely doubted whether I had what it takes to succeed. However, a friend of mind managed to help me turn things around with a few kind words of encouragement. He helped me in organizing the way I took on the subjects and helped me remain positive despite all the apparent hurdles in my way.
If you are up for it, we can join forces to beat next semester. I would like to suggest some teamwork such as group study after school. We can go to the library and do our homework together as well as prep each other for tests and quizzes. I am sure we can ace the next semester and surprise everyone. How about it? You are a bright student, with the potential to perform better than most in our year and all you need is a push in the right direction.
So, don’t get so discouraged, Pam. Do call me to work out a schedule that will benefit us both.
Hope to hear from you soon.
