Doctor Resignation Letter, Sample & Format

Introduction

A doctor resignation letter is written by a doctor when he resigns his job at a hospital. While writing a resignation letter, the doctor must make sure that he provides the reasons for the resignation. Most doctors usually quit their job at a hospital so that they can open up their own clinic. However, in some cases, it may be due to a scuffle with the management of the hospital.

The doctor has to submit the letter to the administration of the hospital. The doctor must ensure that he remains respectful and grateful to have worked for the hospital as well as thank the management to have provided him with the opportunity. Since this is a resignation letter, it must be ensured that the letter is written in a formal and concise manner. The doctor must furnish his contact details along with the letter so that his previous patients can still contact him if they need any assistance.

Subject: Resignation letter

Respected Sir,

I would like to formally submit my resignation from the post of the attending neurosurgeon at the Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, Seattle. This is my official resignation letter to the management.

After having worked with the hospital for the past six years of my life, I have decided that it is now time for me to open my clinic where I can tend to my patients. While I did experience a lot of growth at the hospital, I also felt that I was held back a lot of times. Hence, I wanted to set up my clinic where I can even provide free community service which I believe has become necessary these days.

I would like to thank the management for providing me with this opportunity of working alongside some of the smartest minds in medicine. I owe to the management for shaping me up to be the man I am today. It has been a wonderful experience, and I will forever cherish it. I would also like to thank all of my colleagues with whom I have collaborated on many operations. I would like to let them know that ours is a noble profession and joining hands with each other is how we will be able to help everyone out. They have all been wonderful, and I wish the hospital the very best for the future.

Apart from that, I am attaching my contact details along with the letter including my personal phone number and email address. Certain patients of mine would appreciate it if you provided them with my details. Please feel free to contact me; I will be available to help you out. Hoping to hear from the management soon.

Thanking You

Yours Sincerely

Dr. Derek Shepherd.
