Introduction:

A Dinner invitation letter can be written for various occasions in extending an invitation to someone for dinner. A dinner invitation can be a special celebration or a casual get together for getting to know the recipient better. It can also serve as a thank you dinner for some assistance rendered by the recipient. A dinner invitation letter may be formal or informal in type. A formal dinner invitation letter may be for a various business reasons. The dinner could be because of some business deal, or it could be organized for an employee to impress his employer. These kind of formal dinner invitations are usually very formal and business-like in nature.

In an informal dinner invitation letter it is written by someone who wants to celebrate a big or small occasion with his or her friends and family, and so he invites them for dinner. An informal invitation can be written in a very friendly tone and does not need to be too formal or according to the format. It is fine even if the informal letter is a little bit incorrect in the format, but in the case of a formal dinner invitation, the sender can not afford to make any mistakes in the letter because even the letter is judged as a part of the dinner and so it must be in the correct format.

Dear Joe & Emily,

RE: Dinner Invitation

How are you? Jane and I are well. We were so pleased to meet up with you both again after being away for three years. I am glad to be transferred back home again. I will only be starting work next month. There is so much to catch up with good friends like you both, although the town has not changed much.

It would be our pleasure to have you both join us for dinner on July 18, 2010, at our home. Jane has picked up quite a few Asian dishes which she is eager to have your taste. They are some of our favorite Asian cuisines which we have acquired a taste for since my transfer to Bangkok, Thailand.

I look forward to a favorable reply from you soon as it would be a great opportunity to catch up with you again.

Your old friend,

Charlie Blackwell
