Credit Card Dispute Letter

Introduction:

A credit card dispute letter can be written by an individual to the credit card company to dispute the information about his credit cards. The dispute letter states the incorrect information of the sender’s credit card and requests for the recipient to investigate and correct the dispute. Proof of dispute should be enclosed. Dispute letter can also be written to correct billing errors. You should keep the acknowledged copy of dispute letter or email sent which acts as a proof that you disputed the error  timely. 

Before disputing credit card charges you need to make sure that you understand the procedure and you have all the required documents to raise dispute in place. If there are missing documents or set procedure is not followed, the consumer could lose the dispute because of a technicality.

Subject: Dispute over Credit Card

This letter serves to inform you that I am disputing over the alleged transaction of $599.00 in my January month’s credit card invoice. The amount is allegedly deducted at Hoover’s Footwear on DD/MM/YYYY.

I was out of the country between December 23 and December 31, 2017. Attached is a photocopy of my passport stamp as proof of my claim.

Hence, I could not have used my credit card for that transaction. Kindly investigate this abuse of my card and I hope that appropriate action will be taken to prevent a repeat of such incidents. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, I am requesting to correct this billing error and credit the disputed charges to my account. Also, mail me the corrected statement.

I have been a credit card holder of your bank for the past 5 years and always received remarkable service. This time also I am sure that this dispute would be resolved soon. I would sincerely appreciate your prompt assistance in this matter.
