Annual leave LetterIntroduction:

Every employee is assigned a particular number of leaves that he or she can take every year. An annual leave letter is written to request the approval of days off from work as per the yearly leave entitled. The employee who wishes to take off from work must submit a letter of leave well in advance. Most companies have different policies but a month in advance is the standard time followed. Your request must state the number of days to be taken which would be offset by the allowed number of days of leave in a year.

In case you are taking leave for medical purpose or are on sabbatical, it is advised to attach a copy of proof stating the reason why you’re taking the leave, the document supports your leave letter. In case you have already taken a few leaves from the assigned leaves you can mention it in your letter that you will be okay if the management deducts your salary for the extra days for which you are taking leave.

Dear Mr. Fontaine,

RE: Annual Leave Request

I am writing to request your approval on my annual leave application through this letter.

I would like to request for three days, from DD/MM/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY. I will not be able to come to office on the mentioned dates due to some unavoidable personal work. I request the Human Resource department to deduct these leaves from my assigned annual leave of 15 days which I have not used at all in the year of YYYY. I shall ensure that all urgent tasks shall be completed before I go on my leave on these dates and I shall be back to work on DD/MM/YYYY, to resume my responsibility. In case I am still needed I can be reached on my person number- 299736297.

So far I have completed the Doha pipeline and will submit my Indonesia project research by theĀ DD/MM/YYYY. Accordingly, I have scheduled a presentation meeting for the same on theĀ DD/MM/YYYY.

As mentioned above, although I have some personal matters to attend to, I shall be available for any contact by the company during my leave should there be any urgent request of assistance from me.

I am writing this letter in accordance with the company leave policy that is well in advance, a month prior the dates from which I wish the avail my leaves. Given my attendance record and work performance, I would request you to consider my case. I would appreciate your approval of my leave request.
