Academic Dismissal Appeal Letter

Academic dismissal appeal letter

When a person has been dismissed from college/school due to any given reason(s), he/she is often given a chance and opportunity to appeal to the authorities for a change in the decision. The first step to being taken in such a case is to compose a compelling, efficient and effective appeal letter to the concerned authorities.  An academic dismissal appeal letter is written by a student who has been given a dismissal letter from an academic institution, to appeal to the relevant authorities against the decision.

An academic appeal letter needs to be compelling with strong reasons for the authority of the academic institution to reconsider and change its dismissal decision. These letters present the defendant with an opportunity to reveal to the authorities his/her actions from his/her point of view, that is, to justify their action(s). If this letter is successful, the dismissal order will be withdrawn, and if not, the student will not be permitted to return to school/college until they meet certain standards.

Subject: Academic Dismissal Appeal

Dear Ms.Cara Dunford,

I am writing this letter to appeal the decision of the Disciplinary Board concerning my recent academic misconduct. I received the dismissal letter yesterday and was devastated by it. Let me begin by sincerely apologizing for my actions. I would like to use this as an opportunity to explain the circumstance of my actions to you and also to plead for a second chance.

First of all, I want you to know that I come from a family of bleak economic conditions. My family and I have spent a lot of money for my tuition to reach the third year. Thus, there is enormous pressure on me to score good marks. This forced me to act so. However, I was unaware of the rule as I did not read through the exam regulation booklet carefully with regards to the review rules. I plead ignorance of the concerning rule.

Apart from this, I would like to inform you that till now, I had a clean code of conduct. My performance has always been up to the standards of the academy in all activities. This is my first offense, and I assure you that it will be my last. Please do take this into consideration. Kindly give me a chance to redeem myself. I want to finish my course well.

I thank you for your kind understanding and hope that I will hear from you favorably.

Thanking You.

Yours sincerely,

Sara Mahon
